BIHARSHARIF: A Sheikhpura court on Friday awarded life imprisonment to five people in the infamous ‘hathodi’ (hammer) murder case. The court also imposed a fine of Rs 10,000 on each of the convicts and directed them to pay Rs 1 lakh each to the kin of the deceased.
However, the prime accused in the case is still at large. The court had held the five guilty on July 7 and the quantum of punishment was pronounced on Friday.
Sheikhpura public prosecutor (PP) Uday Narayan said the district and sessions court-1 of Rajkumar awarded life imprisonment to the five, who had hammered a minor boy, Harsh Raj, to death while committing dacoity at his residence at New Colony under the Barbigha police station area in Sheikhpura district on July 18, 2021.
